CLE Session 1: Overview of the NLRA and NLRB
The National Labor Relations Board is the federal agency charged with enforcing the National Labor Relations Act. This session will cover the rights and responsibilities of employers under Act and the unusual manner in which the agency interprets the law and pursues its mandate.

CLE Session 2: The Impact of Concerted, Protected Activity In Non-Union Workplaces
The National Labor Relations Act broadly gives private sector employees, including non-union employees, the right to engage in concerted, protected activities, which include criticizing management, discussing unionization, discussing and complaining about wages, safety, hours, and other terms and conditions of work, and supporting co-workers’ complaints. This session will address these broad rights, as well as the NLRB’s General Counsel’s stated willingness to expand them.

CLE Session 3: Union Avoidance and Winning Union Elections
This session will provide best practices for avoiding unions and winning union elections, including reviewing how employers can avoid committing Unfair Labor Practices and the legal consequences of such violations.

This session will explore life as an employer when operating with a union-organized workforce, including potential strikes, lock-outs, boycotts and unfair labor practices, as well as the handling and arbitration of union grievances.
