A managing and founding partner of Kenney Shelton Liptak Nowak LLP, Tom has been a personal injury defense lawyer for more than 27 years, handling all facets of insured and self-insured defense cases from suit commencement through trial. His experience and legal skills have led to successful results for the firm’s clients in litigation involving automobile, premises and construction liability, professional malpractice claims, complex products liability and mass tort actions, including lead paint, toxic tort, and “sick building” syndrome claims, as well as sports/recreational/leisure liability claims.
In addition, Tom has extensive experience litigating the issues unique to actions involving New York State Labor Law, workplace injuries, and occupational hazard cases, having handled hundreds of such matters for the firm’s many carrier and self-insured clients.
Tom currently serves as the Vice Chair-Elect of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee. He was recognized as a New York State Super Lawyer in 2012. He holds a B.A. in Journalism and Psychology from St. Michael’s (Vt.) College and is a magna cum laude graduate of Syracuse University College of Law.
Tom is also a professional ski instructor, certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America in alpine and telemark skiing. He and his wife live most of the year on Canandaigua Lake, just south of Rochester, NY. The Liptaks have two children in college.
