Mark E. Schmidtke is a shareholder in Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. in Valparaiso, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois. For over 40 years, he has represented insurers, fiduciaries, and administrators in life, health, and disability litigation matters in state and federal courts in every U.S. state. Mr. Schmidtke is the author of several books and articles on employee benefit issues and is a frequent speaker at national seminars. He is a co-author of DRI’s ERISA Litigation Primer, a former chair of DRI’s Life, Health & Disability Committee, a former member of the DRI Board of Directors, and the inaugural recipient of the Linda M. Lawson Mentorship Award. Mr. Schmidtke is a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and former chair of the U.S. Department of Labor Advisory Council on Employee Welfare and Pension Benefit Plans.
