Joseph M. Hamilton is a Partner at Mirick O'Connell and a member of the firm's Management Committee. He concentrates his practice in life, health and disability insurance defense, ERISA, and land use litigation, including environmental litigation.

Mr. Hamilton serves as counsel for numerous life, health and disability insurers and self-insureds at all levels of state and federal courts throughout Massachusetts. Mr. Hamilton's representation includes the full spectrum of issues arising from individual and group coverage, under state and federal law, including ERISA. Mr. Hamilton also represents numerous business clients in addressing litigation issues that arise in the contest of land use and environmental conerns. This includes representing clients in connection with administrative appeals and enforcement actions involving the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Agency as well as actions involving private parties, including litigation related to contaminated property as well as regulatory compliance.

Mr. Hamilton is Vice Chair of the American Bar Association's Health and Disability Insurance Law Committee, Past Chair of its Life Insurance Law Committee and a member of its Employee Benefits Committee; Massachusetts Liaison and member of the Defense Research Institute's Life, Health and Disability Committee; a member of the Association of Life Insurance Counsel; a member of the New England Claims Association; a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association; Past Chair of the Worcester County Bar Association's Environmental Law Section; Past Chair of the Town of Northborough's Planning Board and Conservation Commission; and Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign, Past President and Trustee of Higgins Armory Museum.

Mr. Hamilton received his B.S., magna cum laude, from Boston College and a J.D. from Boston College Law School.
