Member Bio
Peter's principal areas of practice include business litigation involving, business and corporate matters, products liability, pharmaceutical litigation, labor and employment law, insurance litigation, ERISA litigation, fidelity and surety matters, and federal civil practice.
Peter is deeply-rooted in the legal community in North Carolina. He is a former member of the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Bar Association and has chaired the Association’s Bench-Bar Liaison Committee, Litigation Section, and Young Lawyers Division. He is a current member of the Association’s Judicial Independence Committee and the Association’s Foundation Endowment Committee. He is a member of the North Carolina General Statutes Commission as a representative of the North Carolina Bar Association. In addition, he is a member of the American Bar Association and a Fellow of The American Bar Foundation. He is a co-chair of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device and Bio-Tech Subcommittee of the ABA's Section of Litigation Products Liability Committee. He is a former Young Lawyer Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates from the North Carolina State Bar. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and chairs the Defense of State Actions Subcommittee of the Drug and Medical Device Subcommittee.
Peter serves on the Local Rules Committee of the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina and was a former member of the Court’s Attorney Advisory Panel for Case Management/Electronic Case filing. He is a former member of the Advisory Board at the Judicial College at the University of North Carolina School of Government.
Peter received his B.A. Degree with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to attending law school, he served as a Staff Aide to United States Senator Robert Morgan.
Peter earned his J.D. Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After law school, he worked as a Law Clerk to the Honorable W. Earl Britt, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina.
