Firm Information
In 1989, the law firm of Hammonds & Sills began providing legal services to Louisiana public school boards and to numerous insurance companies operating in the State of Louisiana. The firm has grown from the two founding partners into a 18 lawyer firm now with a branch office in Monroe, Louisiana.
In June, 2012, the firm changed its name to Hammonds, Sills, Adkins & Guice, LLP. Today, we provide legal services to more than 50 of the public school districts in Louisiana and to numerous insurance companies and private clients throughout the state. Our experienced litigators handle both jury and non-jury trials with great success rates for both private and public clients.
The services of the firm include all levels of public school law, private and public employment law and claims, litigation and administrative hearings in State and Federal courts, insurance defense, construction contracts and claims, workers compensation matters, medical malpractice defense, collections, constitutional law claims, mediation services and other general civil business matters.
Our History and Unique Positioning
Hammonds, Sills, Adkins & Guice, LLP maintains its main office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a branch office in Monroe, Louisiana. As a result, the personal contact needed between the client and attorney is easily maintained by operating from two locations within the State of Louisiana. Regardless of where in the state a client may be, there is an attorney in the firm with the experience to handle civil litigation, employment law claims, commercial litigation, business law, construction law, professional malpractice, and accident cases nearby.
Over the years, the attorneys in the firm have handled all types of administrative hearings and all types of trial work and appeal work in both federal and state courts. The firm has successfully handled many cases involving medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense claims (liability and UM); property damage claims, duty to defend claims, insurance coverage, contract claims, and bad faith claims for its insurance clients. The firm has successfully handled many cases involving school system desegregation, reapportionment, employee grievances, the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) claims, constitutional issues, construction disputes, public contract and bid problems, Fair Labor Standards Act claims, and workers' compensation matters for both private and public clients.
The attorneys in the firm make a difference in Louisiana in both the trial court, appellate courts and decisions of the Louisiana Supreme Court, together with important decisions within the federal courts in Louisiana. We are willing and able to service our clients in their daily needs on a personal basis with well-qualified attorneys. Due to the recognition by its peers, the firm is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers as a result of the Firm's AV rating and listed by Fortune Magazine as one of the Top Ranked Law Firms for 2013.
