Licensed in Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin, Tom has tried over 100 cases to civil jury verdicts. He is dean-elect of the Academy of Certified Trial Lawyers of Minnesota, having been certified in civil trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy since 1999. He has been "AV" rated (peer reviewed) for over 20 years, and since 2003 has received the Super Lawyer designation (Minnesota), including top 100 status in 2008 and 2009. Tom served as president of the Douglas K. Amdahl Inn of Court in 2005-06. He currently serves as secretary and treasurer-elect of the Hennepin County Bar Association, Minneapolis, MN.Â
Tom currently serves as Vice Chair of DRI's Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee, during the term of which he has authored articles on directive mediation (FTD, August 2009), and special master practice (DRI's ADR Choices newsletter, spring 2009). He has also written recently for DRI's In-House Defense Quarterly on investment market collapse litigation (summer 2009) and asbestos coverage litigation (FTD, July 2006).Â
Tom is a cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, MN, and is a with-distinction graduate of the University of Minnesota, College of Business Administration, Minneapolis, MN. He served as editor and staff member of the William Mitchell Law Review.Â
