Milling Benson Woodward partner Bruce A. Cranner is an experienced litigator in the firm's Medical Malpractice and Healthcare and Products Liability Practice Areas. Mr. Cranner is best known for his work in complex and complicated healthcare cases, serving both as a litigator and as an advisor for clients ranging from physicians and hospitals to long term care facilities. He also frequently represents medical professionals and hospital and facility owners and operators in litigation and before licensing boards and in commercial and business litigation. Mr. Cranner is one of a select few litigators who have tried Peer Review cases to verdict. He has extensive experience as lead trial counsel in complex medical liability and personal injury cases involving Birth Trauma, Gynecological Surgery, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, and Oral Surgery before judges and juries. In addition to his work as a medical liability and healthcare lawyer, Mr. Cranner is also an accomplished and active product liability litigator with a particular interest in over the counter (OTC) medications, medical devices and implants and recreational products. He represents several insurers in cases of all types, including general liability claims and product liability claims, with a particular interest in sporting good cases, including boats, motorcycles, ATVs, exercise equipment, guns and munitions. Mr. Cranner is a past Chair of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee of the DRI The Voice of the Defense Bar and is a past member of the Boards of the DRI and The National Foundation for Judicial Excellence. At this time, he is a member of the DRI’s Federal Rules Task Force and The MSP Task Force. He serves on the Board of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC) and is a member of the faculty of it’s prestigious “Boot Camp” for young defense trial lawyers. He is a frequent writer and lecturer on topics involving medical liability, healthcare, Medicare Secondary Payer compliance, product liability and trial techniques and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at Tulane Law School. As a member of the Legal Task Force of the Sports and Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) he served as the Program Chair and Moderator of the annual SFIA Litigation, Regulation and Risk Management Summit. He is a former member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC) and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC). He has published many articles and book chapters, most recently as a contributing author of the DRI Defense Practitioners Guide to Medicare Secondary Payer Issues.
