Member Bio

Gord McKee is a senior partner in the Toronto litigation department of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, one of Canada's leading law firms with five offices across Canada. He is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers with over 30 years’ litigation experience and is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He has for many years defended class actions and serious product liability claims in Canada with cross-border and complex scientific issues. He is one of a growing but small group of lawyers that has led the defense of class action common issues trials in Canada. He is recognized internationally as a leader in class action and product liability (and life sciences) defense. Gord regularly defends leading manufacturers of drugs and medical devices in proposed class actions in Canada, and acts as national counsel managing litigation across the country. He has defended product manufacturers in both class actions and serious individual claims involving a wide variety of other products including heavy construction equipment, automobiles and auto parts, fire protection systems and various consumer goods. In addition to defending product liability claims, he is regularly consulted on product recalls and warnings. Gord has been actively involved in the profession as a regular speaker and author on class actions, products liability and other litigation topics, a guest lecturer on trial advocacy and a member of professional committees concerned about the litigation process. He is an active member of DRI (Steering Committee of the Drug and Medical Device Committee) and the International Association of Defence Counsel (past Board Member, past Chair of the Drug, Device and Biotech Committee), and a Sustaining Member in PLAC .
