Teresa Dumire is a member of Kay Casto & Chaney’s Management Committee and manages the firm’s Morgantown office. Ms. Dumire’s practice encompasses all areas of civil litigation with a concentration on construction litigation, insurance defense, and the defense of personal injury and wrongful death claims.

Ms. Dumire maintains an AV rating through Martindale Hubble, has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 2011 (currently listed in the fields of Insurance Law, Litigation-Construction, and Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants), has been recognized as a West Virginia Super Lawyer since 2008, and is listed by Chambers & Partners as a leader in the field of General Litigation. She was named the 2017 Lawyer of the Year in Morgantown, West Virginia in Insurance Law by Best Lawyers and the 2018 Lawyer of the Year in Morgantown in Construction Law, and the 2019 Lawyer of the Year in Morgantown in Personal Injury Litigation. She is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America Fellow, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Construction Lawyers of America. She was named a West Virginia Bar Foundation Fellow in 2017.

Ms. Dumire has been serving as a member of the Board of Governors for Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia since 2011 and currently serves as its President. She also serves currently on the WVU College of Law Visiting Committee. In 2010, Ms. Dumire became a graduate of Leadership West Virginia, a prestigious statewide program that develops, strengthens, and connects leaders.

She taught Pre-Trial Litigation at the West Virginia University College of Law from 2006-2014 and taught Expert Witnessing in the West Virginia University Department of Forensic Identification from 2000-2004.

Ms. Dumire is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, U.S. District Court for both the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, as well as the Supreme Court of Appeals for West Virginia. Prior to entering private practice, she served for two years as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Robert B. Stone and the Honorable Russell M. Clawges, Jr., in the Circuit Court of Monongalia County, West Virginia.
