Ms. Peyton has practiced defense litigation since 1998. Her practice has consisted of primarily of professional liability, healthcare law, commercial litigation, insurance law, federal and state workers’ compensation litigation and appeals.

Education

Ms. Peyton graduated cum laude and was awarded Phi Beta Kappa honors from Louisiana State University with a bachelor of arts in history and a minor in French. She received her juris doctorate from Tulane University Law School in 1996, graduating cum laude.

Narrative

After clerking for the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judge C. Richard Avery, Ms. Peyton joined Blue Williams in 1998. At Blue, she concentrated her practice on representing healthcare providers in professional liability cases including physicians, ophthalmologists, dentists, hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, nurses, therapists and other allied healthcare personnel.

While much of her practice involves trial litigation and appellate work, she also handles hospital credentialing issues, NPDB reporting, and pre-litigation panel proceedings.

In addition to her work with the healthcare industry, she has also represented clients in complex commercial litigation, general casualty litigation, and defended automobile liability cases. As a former law clerk in the Department of Labor, Ms. Peyton is very familiar with the LHWCA.

Within DRI, Ms. Peyton was Vice-Chair of the 2012 DRI Diversity for Success Seminar and Expo and will serve as the 2013 Chair of same. She is likewise active in the Louisiana State Bar Association's diversity efforts and has taken the Bar's skills course/workshop on speaking about diversity to other organizations. Ms. Peyton also gives seminars on a variety of topics, including diversity, hospital and medical office documentation as well as medical records retention and production, informed consent and nursing home law and regulations.

Ms. Peyton holds a BV® Peer Review Rated certification mark from Martindale-Hubbell and is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts. In addition to DRI, she is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the New Orleans Bar Association, the Jefferson Parish Bar Association, and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel.
