Ben is member attorney at Lederer Weston Craig PLC in the firm's West Des Moines, Iowa office. Ben has been an attorney with the firm since 2008 after graduating from the Creighton University School of Law. In 2012, Ben moved from Cedar Rapids, Iowa to West Des Moines, Iowa to start the firm's West Des Moines, Iowa office in order to expand the firm's presence and better serve the firm's national and local clients.
Ben practices in the area of tort and commercial litigation, with a focus on insurance defense, liability defense, bad faith, and retail liability. He has helped to successfully resolve many lawsuits by settlement, dispositive motion, or trial in the state and federal courts of Iowa. He also serves as regional counsel to a major retail client, which requires Ben to practice regularly in the state and federal courts throughout the Midwest.
Ben was recognized as a SuperLawyers Rising star from 2015 to present.
Ben is currently the Defense Research Institute ("DRI") State Rep for Iowa. He formerly served for several years on the DRI Young Lawyers' Steering Committee, including Chair or Vice-Chair positions for the Supreme Court and Educational Development subcommittees. Since 2009, Ben has twice served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Defense Counsel Association's Board including most recently from 2016 to present. Ben currently serves on the membership committee of the National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association ("NRRDA"). He is active in the Themis Advocates Group, an exclusive partnership of law firms across the United States.
Ben is also involved in several philanthropies. Ben is a founding member of Professionals for Charity ("P4C"), a tax-exempt charity organization started in 2012 to fundraise for Des Moines, Iowa area children's charities. Also, from 2010 to 2016, Ben was a member of the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish Iowa. The Make-A-Wish board makes strategic decisions to further the organization's mission to grant wishes to Iowa children with life-threatening health conditions.
Ben is married to his wife, Leah Weston, a dentist West Des Moines, Iowa. Ben and Leah have two daughters, Bellamy and Vivienne, and a dog named Maverick. They enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
