Member Bio

Steven Klepper is an appellate litigator in civil and criminal cases before state and federal appellate courts. He represents insurers in trial and appellate courts throughout the country in first-party and third-party coverage disputes.

Steven is Editor-In-Chief of the Maryland Appellate Blog, published by the Maryland State Bar Association Litigation Section. He also publishes articles, commentaries, and book chapters on the federal judiciary and insurance law. He has been an editor of the ABA’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Law Journal since 2010 and has taught a course at Goucher College on the history of the U.S. Supreme Court. He has a particular interest and experience in researching and reporting on issues of judicial efficiency.

Steven is listed in Maryland Super Lawyers for 2014. He was recognized as one of its “Rising Stars” for 2013. He serves on the Criminal Justice Act appellate panels for the D.C. Circuit and the Fourth Circuit and on the Maryland State Bar Association’s Appellate Litigation Committee. He is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association's Litigation Section Council, which awarded him the Chair's Award for Exceptional Service in 2014.

Steven is active in alumni affairs. He was elected in 2013 to a two-year term as President of the Alumnae and Alumni of Goucher College, following a two-year term as Vice President. He has served as Baltimore regional manager for the University of Virginia Law School Foundation since 2012.
