Member Bio
Matt Johnson is a shareholder in the Chicago office of Johnson and Bell. He has practiced as a defense attorney for 16 years in personal injury, professional negligence, transportation, and pharmacy liability cases. Mr. Johnson joined Johnson and Bell as a law clerk in 1995 and practiced as an associate from 1996 until 2002, when he was promoted to shareholder. Currently, he serves as a co-chair of Johnson and Bell's health care practice group.
In addition to DRI, Mr. Johnson is an active member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Chicago Bar Association, the Professional Liability Defense Federation, and the Chicago Hospital Risk Management Society.
Mr. Johnson has written and spoken on several topics related to his practice areas, including the defense of informed consent medical negligence lawsuits, the impact of medical record documentation errors on then defense of medical negligence lawsuits, and the so-called "Never Events" related to patient care in hospitals have have been deemed to result in non-reimbursable patient care by Medicare.
