Born in Monroe, Mark J. Neal (52), principal of Neal Law Firm in Monroe, Louisiana, graduated magna cum laude from UL-Monroe (BBA-93) and later earned his JD from LSU in 1996. Before that, he attended Saint Frederick Catholic High School (1989) where he earned undewhelming grades but excelled at basketball.

After law school, Mark returned home to North Louisiana and began practicing with Hudson, Potts & Bernstein (est. 1876) where he worked 15 years (9 as partner) before creating Neal Law Firm.

Mark is a longtime member of Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (former director) and his legal peers favored him an "AV" Martindale Hubbell rating in 2010. He is an active member of the invitation only preminent legal organizations ADTA, IADC and ABOTA. He is a former member of DRI's board of directors (2012-2015) and was his state's DRI Representative (2009-2012). He was recognized as DRI's outstanding state representative in 2012. He previously served on the DRI sponsored National Foundation for Judicial Excellence board of directors.

Mark is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court and his practice has extended to most every Louisiana trial and appellate court.

His primary areas of practice include civil litigation, including most matters of insurance defense and coverage disputes, transportation defense, workers' compensation, commercial litigation, employment litigation, business litigation, and personal injury litigation. He has tried over 170 cases to judgment in both state and federal courts throughout Louisiana (first chair) and has argued more than 60 cases to various courts of appeal, both state and federal, throughout the state.

Mark is a current UL-Monroe Foundation board member and is ULM Athletic Foundation's former president.

Married to Rhonda Wray Neal (27 years), he belongs to First United Methodist Church and is the proud father of Noah (20) and Nathan (16). Noah (6'6") is a sophomore at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, where he pitches for the Polar's winning baseball team. Nathan (6'4") attends Mark's alma mater, St. Frederick Catholic High School, (sophomore) where he wears his old man's former jersey number 34 and wreaks havoc on the hard court. Mark has 5 MLB parks left to attend before completing the tour of every existing MLB stadium, an endeavor he began with his late father 45 years ago. (With the construction of each new park, the list grows.) Rhonda, a very talented and successful artist, is a fantastic and beautiful partner and travel companion.
