Brian Bassett is a partner in the firm’s Chicago office where he concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance coverage, excess monitoring, professional liability and general liability. He represents insurance companies in complex claim disputes, declaratory judgment actions, and appeals. Mr. Bassett’s work encompasses third-party coverage disputes involving primary and excess liability policies, as well as multi-million dollar first-party coverage disputes regarding obligations under commercial property and inland marine policies. Mr. Bassett handles coverage analysis under all types of professional liability and cyber policies. Mr. Bassett also represents corporations in defense of professional liability and general liability claims.

Mr. Bassett is the Chair of Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Associate Board of Directors – Midwest Division. The IICF is a national organization that seeks to help communities and enrich lives by combining the collective strengths of the industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership. Through collaborative efforts of insurance companies, reinsurance companies, employees, agents & brokers, and strategic partners of the industry, the IICF primarily supports programs that focus on health, safety and education.

Mr. Bassett was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2013 and 2014, a designation given to only 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois each year. While in law school, Mr. Bassett served as Lead Articles Editor for the John Marshall Law Review and he participated in the Chicago Bar Association Moot Court Competition. He was also awarded the 2005 Scribes Award for authoring the best Comment of the 2005 John Marshall Law Review class.
