Michael McCabe represents clients nationwide in all aspects of attorney ethics, discipline and professional responsibility. Michael represents patent and trademark attorneys, registered patent agents, and other legal professionals who practice in the field of intellectual property law. He has represented everyone from sole practitioner patent attorneys and agents to senior partners in some of the largest and most respected IP and GP law firms in the country.
Michael McCabe combines 20 years of experience as an IP attorney, a former Director of a large IP law firm, and many years of experience counseling IP lawyers and firms on ethics and malpractice issues specific to the intellectual property attorney.
Michael’s practice is limited to representation of patent and trademark attorneys and patent agents, focusing particularly on individuals who are registered with or are within the disciplinary jurisdiction of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. His representation includes: USPTO ethics investigations; settlement agreements; disciplinary hearings and appeals; applications; reinstatement petitions; IP practice risk management; and in-house continuing legal education (CLE).
Many of Michael’s IP clients are also subject to the ethics and disciplinary rules of one or more state bars. Michael serves his IP clients who also need assistance in ethics matters arising in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
