My national practice focuses on providing business counsel, litigation strategy, and trial capabilities to transportation companies such as for-hire motor carriers, airlines, and regional transit authorities. I am a member of Roetzel's Transportation Law group, which was recently recognized for the third consecutive year by U.S. News and World Report magazine as a National Tier practice. I also serve on Roetzel's Emergency Response team, to immediately address the issues that may arise as a result of industrial accidents, personal injuries, or other catastrophes.

Representative Matters

Negotiated an early, pre-lawsuit settlement of a multi-fatality trucking accident

Relying on the Montreal Convention, obtained partial summary judgment for a commercial airline in baggage damage claim

Succeeded in protecting a motor carrier's accident investigation materials from disclosure during the discovery phase of a lawsuit by implementing emergency response protocols immediately after the accident

Obtained summary judgment on behalf of Department of Transportation employees in a wrongful death case based on qualified official immunity for governmental employees

Successfully prevented plaintiffs from obtaining damages for "preimpact fear" in multiple lawsuits

Obtained a declaratory judgment from the court limiting a $250,000 claim to $31,250 based on the correct application of the appropriate insurance policy
Obtained a defense verdict at trial on behalf of a roof shingle manufacturer in defense of product liability claims

Successfully set aside a default judgment that had been entered in an amount over $200,000
