Todd graduated from Utah State University in 1992 with a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Spanish. He received a J.D. in 1995, cum Laude from Brigham Young University. He then clerked for a trial court, Judge Boyd Park in the Utah Fourth District Court. He then worked for Capsoft, the developer of HotDocs, subsequently aquired by LexisNexis. He worked for Perry, Malberg and Perry in Logan Utah, for a little over 7 years focusing in insurance defense, personal injury, and general civil litigation.

Todd joined the Salt Lake CLC office of State Farm, now Trystan Smith and Associates, in 2006. He handles general litigation files, both for auto and property liability. Todd is currently the vice president of Utah Defense Lawyers Association, Utah's DRI affiliate.
