Sarah-Jane Dobson is the Global Head of Product Litigation and Regulatory Risk at Ashurst where she is a Partner in the London office.
As an international products lawyer, she specialises in product compliance, safety and liability matters. She works as a trusted advisor to her corporate clients, acting in high-stakes litigation matters, including the highest profile class actions in Europe, and providing commercially-focused regulatory advice in a broad range of sectors across the full product lifecycle. She is also embedded in policy work, and assumes leadership roles in key industry bodies.
With degrees in Science and Law, Sarah-Jane is uniquely placed to provide strategic legal advice that reflects a deep understanding of the complex technical underpinnings of her clients’ product law issues.
Her international legal qualifications (England and Wales, Australia), her time working globally (UK, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Scotland, the Netherlands, and the USA), and her language skills means she is particularly adept at multi-jurisdictional, multi-lingual matters
Sarah-Jane is routinely recognised as a market-leading lawyer in her field, with innumerate accolades, legal awards and rankings in legal directories.
She is a leader in industry organisations, including as a Member of the Board of Directors of ICPHSO and Chair of the European Commission/ICPHSO International Student Mentorship Strategic Committee, DRI’s Product Liability Steering Committee and Chair of International Legal Issues SLG, and International Chair of IADC's Product Liability and Class Actions Committees.
She regularly contributes to legal literature. She authored Oxford University's 'The Law and Regulation of Medicines and Medical Devices' chapter. She is Global Editor for Chambers & Partners 'Collective Redress and Class Actions'; 'Medical Devices and Consumer Healthcare Products', 'Digital Health Products' and Lexology's 'Class Actions' and 'Product Recall and Liability' publications. She is also a regular author for Thomson Reuters, Lexology, Legal500 and PracticaL Law.
